Third Annual Pride Camp Takes Place on UM Campus
The third annual Pride Camp at the University of Mississippi was held on Aug. 26 this year. The event is designed to promote an inclusive environment, networking opportunities and exposure to on-campus resources for students who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Fifty students attended this year’s Pride Camp event, a jump from the 36 students who attended the previous year. The group consisted of both undergraduate and graduate students.
At the event, participants heard from various panelists (student leaders, campus resource representatives and health professionals) and participated in several interactive activities, including a workshop on the topic of intersectionality, led by Katrina Caldwell, vice chancellor for diversity and community engagement.
The event was sponsored by the Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies, Department of Student Housing, Center for Inclusion and Cross Cultural Engagement, William Winter Institute, UM Pride Network, Associated Student Body, LGBTQ Alumni Association, OUTLaw and OUTGrads.
