12th Annual Black History Month Gala

“A New Dawn: A Cultural Revival”

6:00 PM – 10:00 PM

The Inn at Ole Miss

The Black Student Union at the University of Mississippi presents the 12th Annual Black History Month Gala, “A New Dawn: A Cultural Revival.” Join us as we celebrate Black excellence, culture, and creativity. The Gala will begin at 6:00 pm with doors opening at 5:45 pm. Early arrival is suggested. The attire for this event is formal/semi-formal. The event is free and open to the campus community; however, RSVP is required.

2025 Black History Month Concert

Gertrude C. Ford Center for Performing Arts

The University of Mississippi proudly presents the 2025 Black History Month Concert, “If Love Fails, Try Nothing Else.” Join us for an inspiring evening of music and cultural celebration featuring the extraordinary talents of Angela Brown, a world-renowned soprano and two-time Grammy winner, along with Amanda Johnston, a collaborative pianist. Also performing will be the Ole Miss African Drum and Dance Ensemble, directed by Dr. George W.K. Dor, and the Concert Singers, directed by Dr. Don Trott.

This event is made possible through the generous support of the Department of Music, Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Provost, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Access, Opportunity, and Community Engagement, Office of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, African American Studies, College of Liberal Arts, Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies, Center for the Study of Southern Culture, School of Journalism and New Media, Gertrude Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Global Engagement, Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College, and UM Opera Theatre.

Admission is free and open to the campus community.
